What is the legal guarantee of conformity ?

The legal guarantee of conformity is a obligatory guarantee that covers the consumer’s equipment in the case of a manufacturing defect. This guarantee is valid for a period of two years for equipment purchased new, and 6 months for equipment purchased second-hand. In the case of a defect in the equipment under the legal guarantee of conformity, the consumer may request the repair or replacement of the equipment from the seller.

Since July the 1st, 2021, a statement on the existence and duration of the legal guarantee of conformity is obligatory on sales receipts and invoices. This new mention will remind consumers of the existence of this guarantee. This law concerns a set of electronic products such as : smartphones, cameras, household appliances, sports equipment and many other products…

However, online sales are not affected by this obligation.

Chubb, SFR’s mobile insurance partner, has recently been the subject of numerous consumer complaints. Indeed, some consumers report having involuntarily subscribed to this mobile insurance. Lack of training for sales staff, misunderstanding by customers : the origin of these complaints is still unclear.

As a reminder, insurers are obliged to send an information sheet indicating the price and guarantees of the insurance before the contract is concluded.
